► Major Steps in Masters Program
- When you
first arrive:

Visit with the Graduate Coordinator.
- Meet
with your Major Professor.

Obtain a copy (for M.S. thesis
option) of the Guidelines for
Preparing Dissertations and Theses
from the Graduate Office.
- During your
1st semester:
- Work
with your Major Professor to plan
your program of study. Note that at
least one-half of the course work
must be at the 8000 course level.
(7990 experimental course and 7000
special problems course count as
8000.)

Establish a Graduate Committee with
the advice of your Major Professor,
and see the administrative assistant in the ME
office to have it submitted to the
Graduate School.

Register your program of study with
the ME office.
- During your
last semester:
-
Apply for a degree and register for
graduation.
- Work
with your Major Professor to verify
that your program of study and
Graduate Committee are current and
complete. Give any changes to the ME
office.

Schedule your final oral examination
before the Graduate School deadline.

Submit your thesis to your Graduate
Committee (for M.S. thesis option)
at least one week prior to the date
for the final examination. The
thesis must follow the Guidelines
for Preparing Dissertations and
Theses.

Submit a brief synopsis of your
presentation topic (for M.S.
non-thesis option) to your Major
Professor at least one week prior to
the date for the final examination.
- Read
the ASME Practical Guide for Authors
and Presenters.

Complete the final oral examination.
- For
M.S. thesis option, submit thesis to
the Graduate School for final
approval
