Daniewicz invited as speaker at an additive manufacturing workshop

October 21, 2015

Dr. Steven R. DaniewiczCongratulations to Dr. Steve Daniewicz who was invited to make a presentation at an additive manufacturing workshop sponsored by the National Academy of Engineering held in Washington DC on October 8, 2015.

The title of the workshop was: “A Workshop on Predictive Theoretical and Computational Approaches for Additive Manufacturing.”  The workshop addressed challenges and opportunities in theoretical and computational methods to advance additive manufacturing in a holistic, multifaceted, and interdisciplinary way where experts from academia, national laboratories, and the private sector shared their best practices and ideas to move forward.

The workshop focused on the following four areas:

  • Theoretical understanding of materials science and mechanics;
  • Computational and analytical methods in additive manufacturing;
  • Monitoring and advanced diagnostics to enable additive manufacturing fundamental understanding;
  • Additive manufacturing scalability, implementation, readiness, and transition.

Attendance was by invitation only, but remote viewers were able to watch the webinar live on the internet.
