Mago earns ME Outstanding Faculty Award

Pedro MagoDr. Pedro Mago, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, was selected as the recipient of the 2009 Mechanical Engineering Outstanding Faculty Award.  This award is given for outstanding service in teaching, research, and outreach to the Department of Mechanical Engineering during 2008-2009. Dr. Mago joined the faculty in August 2003 bringing considerable research expertise in the energy systems and HVAC area.  He received his Master and PhD degrees from the University of Florida.  During his tenure at MSU, he has been heavily involved in research and he has established himself as an excellent educator making major impacts in the ME department, and the national and international communities as well. He served as the lead person in the modeling and simulation effort of the CHP systems research.  He has authored more than 75 publications, including a book, 5 book chapters, 42 journal papers, and 24 conference papers.  In addition to a truly outstanding research record, Dr. Mago is absolutely committed to teaching as an important part of the academic mission.  He is always recognized as one of the best teachers in the mechanical engineering department. He also served as the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) MSU student chapter advisor.
