ME Department welcomes new faculty member

The mechanical engineering department  welcomes Yucheng Liu who will be joining the faculty ranks in fall 2014 as an associate professor.  Liu received his  doctoral degree  in mechanical engineering from the University of Louisville in 2005 and continued his post doctoral work at the same university until he joined the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette as an assistant professor in January 2009.

Liu has research and teaching experience in the areas of mechanical and machine design, computer modeling and simulation, design software development, structural mechanics, crashworthiness analysis, vehicle system design and analysis, applied mathematics, and ocean and marine energy technology. To date, he has authored more than 130 peer reviewed publications in his research areas and has been the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on approximately $3 million of research funds. He serves as editorial board member and peer reviewer for numerous refereed journals and international conferences.  Liu is a professional engineer registered in Ohio, and holds memberships in American Society of Mechanical Engineering, Society of Automotive Engineers and American Society for Engineering Education.
