March 7, 2019

Jacob Easley, a mechanical engineering junior, presented a paper at the 2019 Nuclear and Emerging Technologies for Space (NETS) held in Richland, WA from February 25-28, 2019. The paper was entitled “Considerations for Closed-Loop Brayton Power Cycle for Nuclear Thermal Rocket with Decay Heat.” Jacob had the opportunity to do research on nuclear thermal propulsion during his internship with NASA Marshall Space Flight Center last summer.

NETS is the premier annual gathering of individuals from NASA, national laboratories, industry, and academia for discussions on space nuclear power and propulsion as well as new and emerging technologies to further space exploration capabilities. NETS is a topical meeting of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and is hosted by the Aerospace Nuclear Science and Technology Division and the ANS Eastern Washington Section.
