RESEARCH SUMMARY
Mrs. Emplaincourt is currently teaching manufacturing processes and engineering economy. One of her primary objectives in the manufacturing processes course is to tour industries in the state with her students. A benefit derived from this outreach is that she has made direct contact with many companies in the state and is often privilege to information about changes that are being experienced and problems being encountered. As a result and if the situation merited it, she would recommend people to be contacted who could offer solutions.
While teaching she received a grant from a company in Mississippi to develop and teach a fifteen-week course on improving productivity to 150 employees. Also, while teaching, she has worked in the state as a private consultant dealing with organizations as diverse as a leading catfish processing plant and a boiler manufacturer, verifying, as well as, developing production standards.
When she worked as a manufacturing engineer in industry, one of her major areas of responsibility, as head of a manufacturing engineering department, was to coordinate projects that not only analyzed the economic impact of new product design but also directed activities that put new products into production ready for shipment to the customers.
