Mechanical Engineering Department Leads Industrial Assessment Center

November 24, 2021

Mississippi State University is one of 31 universities across the country selected to host a Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) for the next five years. Funded by the Advanced Manufacturing Office of the DOE, the MSU-IAC trains engineering students to provide free energy, productivity, and waste assessments to small-and-medium sized manufacturers across the state of Mississippi. IAC students gain the professional and technical skills to become next-generation energy professionals and engineers. These skills set IAC students apart amongst other students to potential employers in the job market. ME Faculty members Dr. Heejin Cho and Dr. Prashant Singh will serve as the Director and Assistant Director, respectively. McKenna Patterson is the lead graduate student.

The MSU-IAC is now hiring outstanding sophomore and junior students and rising senior-level students interested in gaining hands-on experience in energy auditing for industrial manufacturing and commercial building facilities. Starting pay rate is $10/an hour with an expectation of at least 10-15 hours/week. The application will be open through the end of November and informal interviews will be conducted before the end of the semester with an anticipated start date of January 15th, 2022. Students can apply here.
