Congratulations to Dr. Tonya W. Stone, who was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure, effective Fall 2017. Dr. Stone’s research is focused on combining theoretical, computational, and experimental investigations of the mechanical behavior of materials, including metals, polymers, cementitious materials and biomaterials, to establish relationships between the internal structure of a material and its mechanical and thermodynamic properties. She has published 21 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers and has advised or co-advised 9 M.S. and Ph.D. students. She is actively involved with The Minerals, Metals, and Material Society (TMS) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). She also serves as the faculty advisor for the Mechanical Engineering Minority Organization (MEMO).
