ME Ph.D. student received the ORED BCoE graduate student research award

Congratulations to Mohammad “MJ” Mahtabi, ME Ph.D. student,  who was selected to receive the ORED BCoE Graduate Student Research Award.  MJ’s research focuses on fatigue and fracture behavior of metallic materials, and ranges from experimental studies to molecular simulations under the direction of Dr. Tonya Stone.  MJ has published 7 journal articles and a book chapter, with numerous other papers in review or development.  MJ has received a number of prestigious awards from national and international societies including the 2016 ASTM International Graduate Scholarship, the 2016 SAE International Fatigue Design Committee – Henry O. Fuchs Student Award, and the ASTM International E08 Committee M.R. “Mitch” Mitchell Best Student Presentation Award.
