Student receives a NASA GSRP fellowship

November 1, 2010

Ms. Haley Rubisoff Doude, a PhD student of Mechanical Engineering, has been awarded a renewable NASA Graduate Student Researcher Project (GSRP) fellowship for the 2010/2011 academic year. This competitive program supports graduate study related to the NASA research and will allow Ms. Doude access to the NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center facilities. Her research proposal entitled: “Investigation of the dynamics of friction stir welding and its relation to defect formation to facilitate optimization of process parameters and tool design,” was selected for its relevancy in advancing friction stir welding processing. The internship portion of the fellowship will allow close collaboration between Dr. Arthur C. Nunes, Jr., her NASA mentor, and the NASA welding group in Huntsville Al.
