ME Ph.D. student received an ASTM presentation award

 M.J. MahtabiM.J. Mahtabi, Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student, received the ASTM 2015 M.R. “Mitch” Mitchell Best Student Presentation Award in the 2015 ASTM Committee Week, which was held in Tampa, FL from November 15-20.  The event was open to graduate and undergraduate students working in the area of fatigue and fracture mechanics.

His presentation was on “Mean strain/stress effects on fatigue behavior of superelastic Nitinol.” M.J. has been working under the supervision of Dr. Nima Shamsaei for about two years.   In the picture, M.J. Mahtabi (left) and Dr. M.R. Mitchell (right).
